The 49ers did not play during the weekend of Week 3 because they played on the Thursday prior, one day before Trump made his initial comments regarding players who protest during the anthem. In order to win in the desert, they needed a defensive bounce back, particularly from the front four. The bad news Is that Arizona’s makeshift offensive line still has to contend with Arik Armstead and DeForest Buckner, who leads all interior linemen with 16 QB pressures. It was Armstrong’s second-career interception and just San Francisco’s second pick of the season. If they can get even a modicum of production on offense, getting Carson Palmer under pressure will be the key.
DeForest Buckner and Solomon Thomas were able to get to Palmer continually, causing him to rush through progressions and get rid of the ball. When you don’t you have to play good coverage. When you do have opportunities, you can’t make stuff up.
Arizona WR Larry Fitzgerald seems to be defying father time. He also has 12 receptions, which is the most by a 49ers running back through three games since Frank Gore had 22 in 2010. If they really care, they need to get actively involved in searching for solutions to what is a real problem in many areas today, instead of silently kneeling during the national anthem before their games.
It is interesting that the 49ers were among the two teams unable to display a demonstration last weekend. With players either injured or contemplating retirement, the identity for Arizona’s offensive line has been at best, questionable.
Quarterback Brian Hoyer & Co. simply couldn’t generate much offense in the first two games but finally had a breakthrough against the Rams. It was the correct call, as Hyde’s knee was down before the ball came out.
However, Hyde is battling a hip injury that had him limited in practice this week, He suffered the injury in the first quarter of last week’s 41-39 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, but he remained in the game while running for two scores and 84 yards on 25 runs. Hoyer would leave the game in the for one play after a taking a hit from Chandler Jones. However, the Cardinals’ offensive line is in trouble as Left guard Mike Iupati will be undergoing a surgery to fix a bone spur in his elbow and is expected to back only after 2-3 weeks. Aldrick Robinson led the 49ers with 52 receiving yards. The Cardinals’ secondary also could make things hard on Hoyer and the passing game. His longest completion went for 24 yards.
“It was to signify Black Power, but more importantly, I pray every night for God to give me a pinnacle to give people hope”, Newton said after the game, according to a video of his post-game press conference posted on the official Panthers site. “And at first, I thought that was a small sacrifice to pay to get the word out, to raise that awareness”.
“I think everyone has the right to protest, but I think you have to choose your stage wisely”, said Laura Williams, who works in healthcare. We have to avoid that.
– Fitzgerald ended the game with a game-winning touchdown. “We will go back and look at the film and see what we can do better”.
Fitzgerald’s ability to line up all over the formation made him particularly risky for a young Niners secondary. “Smokey” caught three passes for 47 yards. In a CNN poll taken last week, senior citizens were waaaay more likely than any other age group to say that kneeling during the anthem is the “wrong thing” to do to express your political beliefs. On 1st-and-10 at the 17, Eli Harold beat John Wetzel and sacked Palmer for a seven-yard loss, the third time Palmer was sacked in the game.
