But, farther south the snow never really materializes well, so a coating to half an inch is all we see in areas south of 70 where it snows, and a large part of southern OH may see no snow.

Environment Canada said surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery.
“Accumulations of snow 1 to 3 inches, and accumulation of ice from 0.03” up to around a tenth of an inch of ice. “A few tenths of an inch of snow and sleet accumulation are possible before the transition to freezing rain”.
The downfall is going to ease off as Friday progresses but another system is expected to arrive that evening and stick around on Saturday, Dec. 23.

The messy weather comes as the American Automobile Association is predicting 107.3 million Americans will travel by planes, trains, automobiles and other modes of transportation between Saturday and January 1. Precipitation has been breaking out well north of this front, in fact so far north that it’s been confined to mainly up-state NY and the Great Lakes.

With snow already on the ground and more to come, the odds of a white Christmas are “looking pretty good”, Brown said. The overnight high is expected to be 32 degrees on Christmas night.
