However, iOS 12 beta leaks have suggested it should be coming soon.
That price point makes it less expensive than the iPhone 8 Plus; its affordable price combined with state-of-the-art technology is something the company is “very proud” of.
The iPhone XR also sports the same Face ID tech as the iPhone XS.
All three devices also come with a more powerful “A12 Bionic” processor which allows developers to build more sophisticated video games, augmented reality experiences and other apps with real-time features that couldn’t previously run on a mobile device. It will cost much less than the Xs and Xs Max, predicted to be around $600. It’s a six-core CPU, and uses a new, eight-core Neural Engine to power the machine learning systems on the iPhone XR that can process up to five trillion (yep) operations per second.
The body is made from surgical-grade steel.
Interestingly it’s got a bigger screen than the XS, coming in a 6.1 inches.
The dual rear-facing cameras are 12 MP with wide-angle and 2x optical telephoto with 6-element lenses.
The XR is only a single lens camera system, but has a wide angle like those found on iPhone X. Users can adjust the depth of field after they take the picture.
Schiller called this “a new era of photography”, and “computational photography”. It will come in gold, silver and space gray colour variants. For models in China, the phones have dual SIM slots in a single tray.
Remember when Apple a year ago announced a wireless charging pad that could simultaneously power an iPhone, smartwatch and AirPods?
Apple’s iPhone Xr model is the cheapest of the new iPhones, with a starting price of $749.
That brings me to pricing, a real issue when it comes to the iPhone XR. Touch ID and the home button will be ditched in favour of Face ID and new gestures for accessing the home screen. First things first: Apple would really rather you call them “iPhone Ten Ess” rather than “Ex Ess”.
The front camera can also be used for Portrait Mode selfies.
The iPhone XR will be available in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB models in white, black, blue, yellow, coral and (PRODUCT) RED for $749. The iPhone XS claims 30 minutes more life compared to the iPhone X, while the XS Max delivers an hour and a half extra juice. If you could handle the iPhone 8 Plus you can handle the Xs Max. All while retaining an overall design that’s roughly the EXACT same size as old 5.5-inch iPhone 6/7/8s Plus models. Both the iPhones will be available for pre-order starting September 14 and will ship starting September 21.
