When Ben Affleck was announced as the new Batman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, fans of the more recent Batman films and comics alike were livid.
All three statues stand atop a base shaped in the image of the Batman v. Superman logo of the Superman “S” nestled inside the bat symbol. “He’s on the verge of being swallowed up by the anger and the rage that we see haunt this character in the other manifestations of it. But this guy is further down the line and has become more embittered and cynical”. That he should have lured General Zod away from Metropolis and prevent civilian casualties. Entertainment talked to director Zack Snyder about the ending and how choices were made with a sequel in mind. Because Batman is so concerned with the damage caused by Superman, it’ll be interesting to see how The Dark Knight fights The Big Blue Boy Scout without creating a little destruction of his own.
“Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice” stars Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, and Jason Momoa as Aquaman.
“There are other superhero movies where they joke about how basically no one’s getting hurt”, said Snyder.
“There’s plenty of time for individual Superman sequels,” he said.
The news of Affleck’s split with his wife of 10 years, Jennifer Garner, has some fans bringing on the heat and directing it toward Affleck’s role as Batman. The message misled audience that it’s alright to have massive destruction but no one suffers. One of those buildings belonged to Bruce Wayne, so he will be seeking justice for all the people that died. I want you to go, “Oh my God, I guess you’re right”.
“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” arrives in theaters on March 25. So many of his films have had nowhere near the budget as a superhero flick gets.
Yes, apparently we nearly got a film featuring Superman facing off against a powerful cyborg with a core powered by Kryptonite, but ultimately Snyder’s plan fell away to a Justice League setup flick.
