We all know Marvel likes to plan things out a few years (or decades) in advance, and a new rumor seems to indicate they already have a short list for Captain Marvel – and here’s who is (allegedly) at the top of it.
“Captain Marvel” movie will fix on – one of the many incarnations of the character- Carol Danvers, who debuted as an officer in the United States Air Force and Security Chief of a restricted military base, where Danvers meets Dr. Walter Lawson, the human alias of alien Kree hero Captain Marvel.
However, if Ferguson will become Captain Marvel, this move would be a wise one, as it keeps her schedule clear for the MARVEL Cinematic Universe. The movie will be the studio’s first solo female superhero film.
Although, the source did not mention Ferguson’s name in the piece, several clues were laid out that connects to her film works such a major role in “Mission Impossible – Rogue Nation” and an upcoming movie project, “The Girl On The Train” starring alongside “Into the Woods” star Emily Blunt. Ferguson, of course, was somehow able to outshine the biggest movie star of all time (Tom Cruise) in MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – ROGUE NATION, after exhibiting a remarkable aptitude for large action set pieces. The “Jurassic World” star revealed that she wants be very much part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She began to gain fame for her role on BBC’s mini-series, “The White Queen“.
While there’s not much to back up this report, Ferguson recently took herself out of the running for Channing Tatum’s Gambit (the role has now been offered to Spectre’s Lea Seydoux), indicating that perhaps she’s keeping her schedule free for Marvel.
So far, Marvel Studios has enlisted Nicole Perlman (“Guardians of the Galaxy“) and Meg LaFauve (“Inside Out”) to script “Captain Marvel“.
The film will release in 2018.
