Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker also weighed in on the Clinton campaign’s disclosure that it had turned over her private server and a thumb drive of her emails to the Justice Department as part of its investigation.
Inspectors general of the intelligence community and the State Department requested the FBI review the security handling of the Clinton emails after uncovering that some emails stored on the private server contained classified information, including some now considered top secret.
“It was just a few weeks ago when the Democratic front-runner for President of the United States blatantly lied to the American people declaring that she was “confident” that she ‘never sent nor received any information that was classified, ‘” Texas Congressman Rep. Blake Farenthold said in a statement.
While Democrat Hillary Clinton was nowhere to be seen, her Republican rivals sounded off on news her private email server has been turned over to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. In June, the State Department said it was given 15 emails exchanged between herself and friend/unofficial advisor Sidney Blumenthal it did not previously have, casting doubt on the completeness of Clinton’s disclosure. Chuck Grassley of Iowa said two emails that traversed Clinton’s personal system were deemed “Top Secret, Sensitive Compartmented Information” – a rating that is among the government’s highest classifications.
The emails, which had been held by Clinton lawyer David Kendall, are now in the possession of the Department of Justice and are being reviewed by an inter-government agency that includes the FBI and the NSA. All indications are that the FBI and Intelligence Community want these pieces of hardware just to make sure no more classified information exists on platforms outside its own walls, not to check what may have been on it before. A July 2015 Quinnipiac poll found that 57% of voters say Clinton is not honest and trustworthy.
“She’s lied about her emails, it’s clear she has”, said Carly Fiorina.
Campaign communications director Jennifer Palmieri crafted a Medium post Wednesday that warns the public against “misinformation” being dispersed regarding Clinton’s personal email system, alleging that there exists “no criminal inquiry” into Clinton’s email.
The FBI is looking into the security of the Clinton email arrangement.
“If so, they would have had to come in with all the appropriate classification markings”, the official said.
McCullough concluded that, in sum, seven emails-nearly one-fifth of the sample he examined-contained classified information at the time they were sent.
No doubt Hillary Clinton has bounced back from many scandals throughout her public life.
“It’s vital that you read and absorb the real story so that you know what to say the next time you hear about this around the dinner table or the water cooler”, Palmieri wrote in a bid to shoot down rising criticism about the emails. That sounds awfully similar to what Clinton has said about her email archive.
Jeb Bush, who has long been a critic of Hillary Clinton’s decision to use a private email server as secretary of state, lumped the Democratic presidential frontrunner Wednesday into the same category as others who have risked national security, namely Chelsea Manning, formerly known as Bradley Manning, and Edward Snowden.
