The Chargers (1-1) play Sunday at Indianapolis (0-2).
The running back is the second key Chargers offensive player to suffer a devastating knee injury in as many weeks.
A week after losing wide receiver Keenan Allen for the year, the Chargers learned it would be without running back Danny Woodhead until next year. If an National Football League team lost a receiver that produced 80 catches on 106 targets and averaged almost 10 yards per reception, their fanbase would be in a whirlwind wondering how exactly to replace him. “It is a shame that this happened”. “I promise you he will come back stronger than ever”. In 2014, Woodhead missed 13 games due to a broken leg, and it was clear how much Rivers missed him that season. “I wish I did”, he said.
But the Jaguars’ effort dismissed the notion they were ready to turn things around. Whenever you go through a game like that, there’s frustrations, more than just we didn’t show up and play to the best of our ability. We could just never get in a rhythm.
