Birth.death.movies has learned that Darth Vader will appear in Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One, but he will not be the film’s main antagonist. Movies.Death, will star a certain Darth Vader.
Devin Faraci, a writer for the fansite, which was formerly the generally reliable Badass Digest, reports the long-running space saga’s most iconic villain will have a string-pulling background role in Gareth Edwards’s film.

At this point in Star Wars continuity, Vader was still the strong right hand of the Empire and under the command of Grand Moff Tarkin, who was also in command of the Death Star. We’ve since heard rumblings that the second Star Wars Anthology film (the one Josh Trank was previously attached to) would focus on bounty hunter Boba Fett.
Officially the film is in pre-production, but star Felicity Jones has already been spotted filming scenes for the first Star Wars spin-off already, using some sets from JJ Abrams’ forthcoming The Force Awakens, no less. Following news that the film would be more of a violent war story, new details suggest one of the franchise’s most important characters will play a part in the spinoff. There are no female Star Wars characters yet in the Disney merchandise. Apparently director Gareth Edwards (who did the recent Godzilla reboot) has been shooting in the United Kingdom with Jones for weeks.
