It was indeed a treat to Dabawenyos to watch the remake of the 1991 animated musical ahead of other Disney fans in the country.
After having seen the live-action Beauty and the Beast, you may notice very few and quick instances of gay insinuations. This new live-action film is set to bring Disney’s animated classic to life, but just how accurate was Disney’s story to begin with? His performance stays true to the movie, but his new song “Evermore” is a great moment. What’s not to like? But until that time sit back and enjoy this GIF of Emma Watson playing with a bunch of little cute kittens.
Duo Gaston and Le Fou were well played by Luke Evans and Gad.
YOU’D be forgiven for thinking that Dan Stevens would count his role in Downton Abbey as his favourite.
The autotune on both Watson and Dan Stevens as the Beast was distracting and obvious, but still somehow does not hold a candle to the underwhelming and unsettling designs of characters like Lumière, Cogsworth, and Mrs. Potts. Growing up, it seems his father was a beast of his own and ended up making his son just like him. While one may argue that he ultimately turns into a human, calling it a simple metaphor for not judging people based on their looks, it’s still a little unusual.
“LeFou is somebody who on one day wants to be Gaston and on another day wants to kiss Gaston”. Beauty and the Beast is the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, handsome and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a Beast in his castle.
“I auditioned to be in the ensemble (for the Broadway musical) and I wasn’t cast and I was devastated, and then, you know, things worked out!”, she smiled on USA breakfast show Good Morning America.
Bill Condon (“Dreamgirls” and “Mr. Holmes”) deftly helms this charming adaptation of the ancient tale and the earlier Disney version. The Beast is much more likeable this time around.
“The prince in Snow White just literally shows up and kisses a dead girl”, notes Gad. That exciting yarn about the two-for-one Denny’s special always was a favorite of mine.
