Upvotes and downvotes are an integral part of the Reddit experience.
Facebook’s Downvote Button Seen In Australia, New Zealand!
The feature was first tested in February on five per cent of Android users in the US.
While it’s visible to everyone when you like a post or comment on Facebook, upvoting or downvoting a comment will be totally anonymous – well, Facebook will know, but not your friends or the total strangers who’re involved in the conversation.
The social networking giant is also literally sizing down the doubtful stories to prevent the triumph of falsehood on its platform.
There has been no comment as of now.
Facebook claims this new “upvote” and “downvote” buttons have a different function to the already existing “like” and “dislike” buttons.
In other words, users can now choose which comments to like, and which to dislike. The feature seems inspired by Reddit, obviously.
“The ‘downvote” tool should be viewed in light of the firm’s efforts to change the way people consume news on Facebook, Jack Kent an analyst at IHS Markit told BBC News.
Some of the are really hilarious. But Facebook has shown less interest in such feature, with its reservations based on the social media model the company originally intended.
The new feature has been noted by Ben Slater on Twitter.
But in 2016, Facebook introduced reactions to offer its users wider avenues to express their emotions about comments.
This is indeed a controversial question, as the answer is mixed. It is worth noting that since the point of inception, Facebook only allowed its users to either like a content or ignore it. Facebook’s “Downvote” button is restricted to comments on public posts and doesn’t apply to the posts themselves.
It is surprising as Facebook always denied adding “dislike button” just to avoid promoting negativity but the up vote and down vote will do the same things. That’s easier said than done, as there’s nothing stopping users from using this Reddit knock-off as a dislike button to troll comments. They wont let millions of users leave their service without a fight!
