Gmail Confidential Mode rolling out on Android; here’s how to use it

Google has officially rolled out confidential mode for Gmail in the Android and iOS apps.

Just as Google does with most of the apps that are part of the G Suite collect of mobile apps, the feature to create Confidential Mode emails has been added to the Gmail app for Android and iOS over the server.

Similar to what Telegram introduced years ago, Gmail users can now set a self-destruct timer for a defined period on all outgoing emails. Along with the control options, users can decide whether they will require recipients to obtain an SMS passcode before they can access the email message. You can also set an expiration date and passcode for a message or attachment that you’re sending.

Unfortunately, there’s no option for five seconds, or you could send the email to a friend and say “This email will self-destruct in 5 seconds”. With this mode, you can even enable a mandatory passcode for accessing the email.

Sensitive mode for letters appeared in mobile version of Gmail. That means that Google now has another bit of personal data – an email connected to a phone number.

For the time being, SMS-based passcodes are only available for users in North America, Europe, India, Japan and South America. You will see the new ‘Confidential Mode’ option. The users who use gmail, will see these messages as like normal mails.

What is Confidential Mode in Gmail? Hence, you can easily send emails and projects as an attachment. That being said, billions of people use Gmail every day, and majority aren’t tech-savvy enough to seek out third-party apps. Earlier confidential mail could only be sent by using Gmail on the Web.

Once updated, open the app, tap on “Compose”, and then tap on the triple dotted menu on the top right corner, and select “Confidential Mode”.
