“We are grateful for his service and wish him the best”, Sanders said in a statement, as reported by Time.
The former Breitbart News chairman who joined President Donald Trump’s team last August and helped inject a nationalist theme into his campaign has been dismissed after a tumultuous tenure that often saw him in conflict with other white House staffers.
UPDATE: 1:18 P.M.: This article was updated with a White House statement about Bannon’s removal.
King cited Bannon’s interview with The American Prospect published Wednesday, in which the strategist touted racial divisiveness as a critical way to defeat Democrats and undercut Trump’s tough position on North Korea.
“One of us is going to be a hegemon in 25 or 30 years and it’s gonna be them if we go down this path”.
In the Wednesday interview, Bannon repeatedly stressed his belief that the U.S.is “at economic war with China” and that the next “25 or 30 years” will determine whether China or the USA becomes an economic “hegemon”. “The president had the North Koreans really believing they could wake up to a strike, taking out their nuclear weapons and command and control facilities”.
“Steve was proud of how [Trump] stood up to the braying mob of reporters”, the source told Axios.
President Donald Trump has fired Stephen Bannon as his chief strategist in the latest high-level White House shake-up, removing a powerful and controversial figure known for far-right political views, official sources said.
Bannon also expressed hope that the left’s focus on racism would allow him to “crush the Democrats”.
I’m told Trump stewed over Bannon’s interview with American Prospect in recent days.
According to CNN, Bannon was sacked. A person who recently spoke to Bannon told the news network that Bannon doesn’t plan on being silent following his ouster. Two administration sources told the New York Times that while Trump has chose to part ways with Bannon, the president had yet to decide how and when the action should be made public.
His exit is yet another prominent departure for the Trump administration, which has lost multiple high ranking staffers since Trump took office.
Things came to a head last week when the smooth-talking director found himself in hot water by telling a New Yorker journalist he “is not trying to suck his own cock”.
