Infinity War has broken the record for highest-earning Thursday night preview in the MCU and has given Black Panther a run for its money, literally.
If Nick Fury knew about Captain Marvel all along, why was she not helping the Avengers during the Battle of NY, the crisis in Sokovia, the events of Civil War, or in any of the standalone films? From there, the Mad Titan sets his sights on Earth to snatch the Time Stone that hangs around Doctor Strange’s neck and the Mind Stone that sits smack dab in the middle of Vision’s forehead.
“This one is about United We Stand, Divided We Fall”, he says. If you’re like me, you probably cried out: “This is unnecessary. Why?!”
Now worlds collide again when “The Avengers” meet the rogue space pirates of “Guardians of the Galaxy”. He’s a tough bag guy. Thanos believes that, with the Stones affixed to his Infinity Gauntlet, he will finally have the power to wipe out half of all the living creatures in the universe, those that remain able to enjoy a far more prosperous and far less crowded world. But in “Age of Ultron”, it is eventually placed in Vision’s head.
If your kids want to get up to speed on their favorite Marvel heroes, the Storybook Collection is a great place to find out everything you need to know about Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Nick Fury and more. Especially if they’re starring in upcoming sequels that have already been announced. A lot of risks were taken with the characters of this film and it’s going to be interesting and fun to see how those risks will pay off. That moment connects Loki and Thanos (the former owes a debt to the latter) with the film’s final battle scene setting the stage for everything Tony Stark and Steve Rodgers have fought for since.
Where did Captain Marvel get her powers? . The Russo Brothers could have chosen anyone to be guarding the Soul Stone, they picked Red Skull (and Ross Marquand) – now we have to wait and see why they chose to do what they did. Just to let you know if it’s worth seeing.
But in “Infinity War”, the smorgasbordof characters allow for real stakes that leave all of these groups of characters seeing beloved teammates and friends die by the time the credits roll, and even after in a singular, must-watch post-credits scene. Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury – first seen in the post-credits scene of the aforementioned Iron Man, and not seen since 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron – is in a auto with Cobie Smulders’ Maria Hill – also not seen since Age of Ultron – responding to the attack by Thanos’ forces on Wakanda. But I think of it as more of an emotional gut punch.
