Pakistan accuses India of oppression of Kashmiris in the part of Himalayan region under Indian control.
Sharif had equated Kashmir with Palestine while talking about “suffering of Muslims across the world“, saying, “Palestinians and Kashmiris (are) oppressed by foreign occupation”. In truth, it is actually a victim of its own policies of breeding and sponsoring terrorists.
“If the response is serious and credible”, the minister said, “India is prepared to address all outstanding issues, which includes Kashmir in diplomacy-speak, through a bilateral dialogue“.
Meanwhile, the JKPFL General Secretary, Mohammad Ramzan Khan, in a statement issued in Srinagar also welcomed the speech of Pakistan Prime Minster, Mohammad Nawaz Sharif in the UN General Assembly.
Swaraj stated the talks between national safety advisers on all points associated to terrorism ought to be held, in addition to an early assembly of senior army officers to deal with the state of affairs on the border.
The hostility between Pakistan and India dates back seven decades, and they have fought three wars. “To de-militarize Kashmir is not the answer”, ministry spokesman Vikas Swarup said in a tweet.
Swaraj also paid tribute to the more than 3,300 peace-keepers, including 161 from India who sacrificed their lives in the operations.
The premier had also raised the issue of tensions between Pakistan and India, including ceasefire violations on the LoC and the Working Boundary. He said India had conveyed its willingness to talk but imposed preconditions, knowing that these would be unacceptable to Pakistan. “The world watches with concern as its consequences have spread beyond its immediate neighbourhood”, said Singh’s intervention, the copies of which were released here.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had proposed a four-point initiative while addressing the world body a day earlier.
“An easing of threat perceptions through such peace efforts will make it possible for Pakistan and India to agree on a broad range of measures to address the peril posed by offensive and advanced weapons systems”, Sharif said. She said that there was a clear difference in the word instability and terrorism.
“The state terrorism in Kashmir has touched new heights”.
“Yesterday the Prime Minister of Pakistan proposed what he termed as a four-point new peace initiative”. Pakistan as a member of the Uniting for Consensus (UfC) group opposes any addition to the permanent seats on the 15-member Security Council.
