Kel Mitchell, who older Nickelodeon fans may remember as the orange-soda loving goofball on “Kenan & Kel“, is set to make his return to the network on the new series “Game Shakers“.
The show focuses on a pair of seventh grade girls Babe and Kenzie (played by Cree Cicchino and Madisyn Shipman respectively) who, after creating a super popular mobile game (called Sky Whale), start a company called Game Shakers. Schneider was also an executive producer for “All That”, “Kenan & Kel“, and wrote for “Good Burger“, all shows that had a hand in Mitchell’s fame.
In an interview with EW, Mitchell said he’s always “fit in well with Nickelodeon“, noting that his “name is even in the middle of the word Nic-Kel-odeon”. “There are so many layers to this character that it is one of those dream-come-true roles”, the actor told Entertainment Weekly. “Game Shakers” is predicted to begin in September.
Can we just have a Kenan & Kel reunion now please?! Thank you Jesus!!!! This show has all the comedy and energy you know me for.
A couple of years ago I was writing an episode of “Sam & Cat.’ There was a guest star role for an eccentric rap artist and business mogul, named Peezy B”. “Double G is a rapper/singer/dancer/entrepreneur/[and] investor, which gives us great story lines on the show”. Mitchell also notes, “It’s great to be back on the network that gave me my first big television job”.
Kenan and Kel ran for five seasons and saw the eponymous teenage characters get into trouble with the clumsy Kel and his love for orange soda that would often lead to much hilarity. It would be awesome because theyre as strong and talented as any male comedy duo thats ever been.
Since Kenan & Kel ended back in 2002, Kenan Thompson has become Saturday Night Live’s longest-tenured cast member. All I can say is, I can’t imagine anything more fun and exciting.
