Pitino’s lawyers said in a statement their client was effectively fired. Neither Jurich nor Pitino will be in attendance.
Things could be getting even uglier for Rick Pitino, who was placed on unpaid administrative leave Wednesday.

The announcements come one day after an explosive federal indictment linked the University of Louisville to a basketball recruiting bribery scheme. It says that Christian Dawkins, who works for a sports management company, told the group that a rival athletic company had to come to “Player 10’s” family.
Pitino, 65, coached Louisville to a 416-123 record over his 16 years at the school, winning an NCAA Championship in 2013.
Postel said the university has information on the two coaches involved, but declined to release their names citing the ongoing investigation.
Federal prosecutors allege executives at Adidas funneled $100,000 to the family of a recruit, believed to be Brian Bowen, to play basketball at Louisville – a program Adidas sponsors. Last year, Louisville banned themselves from participating in the NCAA tournament. He already was suspended for the first five games of the season after a probe into an escort case. His Louisville teams reached three Final Fours and won one championship, and since he took over the program 11 of his players were selected in the National Basketball Association draft. Pitino’s contract requires 10 days notice.
The university will announce an interim head coach and athletics director within the next 48 hours.
Louisville’s Board of Trustees unanimously supported the action, its chairman said during the briefing. He has coached at the collegiate level at Boston University, Providence College, The University of Kentucky and Louisville.
Hawkins said,”It definitely with all the talk and all the chatter, just about the school itself, I definitely feel like my degree versus somebody else who’s from United Kingdom or the University of Alabama, those are worth more, I’ll be put to the side, like my resume”. It is heartbreaking to me that the alleged intentional and secret criminal acts can bring such harm to our school. But those universities – Louisville and the University of Miami – were easily identified. Like any son, I want what’s best for my dad and I will always support him.
