The cast is led by Oscar victor Lupita Nyong’o who will be making her New York stage debut as “The Girl” alongside Pascale Armand (Bessie), Akosua Busia (Rita), Zainab Jah (Maimi) and Saycon Sengbloh (Helena). We learn that, should she figure out time travel, she would like to drink pineapple juice with Frida Kahlo and star in The Nutty Professor. She was last photographed for the July 2014 cover. In the latest cover, the Academy Award-winning actress created magic in a gold Valentino couture dress, photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.
While Vogue followed her around a studio full of dresses and shoes, Nyong’o opened a drawer to reveal a toy lightsaber, which she playfully brandished for the camera.
“Presentation is extremely important in Kenya“, said the Mexican-born beauty.
However, she will always feel “a child of Kenya”.
Continuing, Nyong’o says, “I’m definitely attracted to more dramatic roles”. In keeping with that global theme, her favorite holidays, she said, are “Thanksgiving in America; Christmas in Kenya; and El Dia de los Muertos in Mexico”. “The idea that you can be self-made is very vibrant in America. But I don’t dwell on it”, she intimated. “But it’s in the hope that I will not always be the only one telling them”.
Meanwhile, Lupita will play a role for the upcoming movie “Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens“. “When I have that man”, she adds.
