The movie, Magic in the Moonlight, will hit the big screen on Friday, July 25 and it has received two and a half stars out of four.
The rate is not so good for any new movie. Magic in the Moonlight is panned by many critics as a fluffy movie. High expectations are there from this film, particularly, when the film is by such a man, who has successfully proved his genius offering film lovers many beautiful movies.
Woody Allen, 78, is the writer-director of the movie; it is something more expected from him. He is sharp and witty, and a man of prolific genius. Most importantly, he is and at the apex of his profession. He releases one film a year and he manages to be one of the greatest writers-directors of this time. Blue Jasmine, Midnight in Paris and Match Point are some of his well-crafted masterworks in the last decade.
The movie has its set-up in 1928. Colin Firth plays Stanley, an International British Magician and Emma Watson plays Sophie Baker. When they first met Stanley did not disclose his identity to Emma. The story is not so connecting but romance between Stone and Firth holds audiences to watch it further.
Both the stars have portrayed their characters wonderfully. Though, there is a difference of 28 years between them, but still they manage to romance comfortably. Some of the scenes are really lovely especially when Sophie asked Stanley to hold her hand while raining as she was shivering.
The sets are just beautiful and as far as it is about direction then it is also matching all the aspects of 1920’s set-up. The costumes are beautiful and Emma is looking beautiful. This wide-eyed lady has also justifies with her character. She was beautiful in Amazing Spider Man and Amazing Spider-Man 2. It was the movie when the lead character of the movie, Andrew Garfield starts seeing each other.
