The screening of the upcoming Walt Disney film, “Beauty and the Beast” in Malaysia has been postponed indefinitely pending a domestic review by Walt Disney Co (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd.
Beauty and the Beast has sparked global debate, headlines, and even boycotts over its “exclusively gay moment”, which reveals the sexual orientation of the character LeFou.
As you may recall, in one of the film’s most memorable moments, Belle wears a yellow ballgown to dance with the Beast. Once a film receives approval, it means it can be screened. What would Jesus think?’ Ewan responded sarcastically. “I don’t think it is going to influence anyone”.
“I insisted on this film, for example, that they keep my freckles”, the Harry Potter star said.
Director Bill Condon sparked controversy last month after he revealed that the highly-anticipated live-action remake would include a gay character and Disney’s first-ever “exclusively gay moment” onscreen.
“As soon as we get a copy of the film with relevant paperwork for distribution, we will consider it according to the law”, Medinsky said. “He’s confused about what he wants”.
Next time you cosy up in your mermaid blanket to watch Beauty And The Beast, take a much closer look at one of the opening scenes outside of the castle, and you’ll spy her frolicking around in the grass. It’s somebody who’s just realizing that he has these feelings.
“Josh makes something really subtle and delicious out of it”, Condon said.
“Beauty and the Beast” is directed by Oscar victor Bill Condon, based on the 1991 animated film “Beauty and the Beast”. “Some people are uncomfortable about others being gay because they don’t understand it, but fortunately, stories like this help us see how gay people are cherished members of our community in movies like they are in the world”.
