Funeral services are Monday for a murdered family of eight.
In a series of freakish, self-pitying jailhouse interviews with local media Wednesday, Conley repeatedly blamed his victims, saying Jackson and her husband were bad parents who were turning their children into “monsters”. “I’m not even saying I killed them”, said Conley.
Valerie Jackson wrote in a letter to La Crosse County Court that David Conley III on October. 3, 2008, threatened to break her legs, refused to let her leave her apartment and pushed her at a bus stop.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office had initially declined to say how many times its deputies had gone to the home Saturday after receiving numerous 911 calls asking them to check on the family.
“Anytime you hear about something that’s this heinous, anytime you hear about the death of this many children in a single event, it is hard”. He and his ex-girlfriend, Valerie Jackson, had a relationship over the past 14 years and had a 13-year-old son, Nathaniel, together.
“I’m not the type to have them in my house”, Kardashian said. Conley told police he gathered everyone into the master bedroom, handcuffed Valerie Jackson and either handcuffed or tied others to the bed.
Katie McConnell with Children at Risk said it’s the system that failed them.
Deputies would later discover the bodies of six children and two adults inside after a standoff with alleged shooter David Conley, III. In 2002, he was charged with felony retaliation against Valerie and, due to two previous felony convictions, could have gotten 25 years to life behind bars, KHOU reported.
Earl Yanske, whose sister Valerie Jackson was among the victims, said he believes deputies could have done something to stop the gunman before it was too late. Donna Everson, an attorney who was appointed to represent the six children, did not immediately return a call seeking comment. He also served nine months after pleading guilty to aggravated assault.
KPRC 2 Investigator Robert Arnold interviewed Conley from his cell in a Harris County, Texas, jail where he cried about being treated unfairly and said his son was having “behavior problems” because his mother was “cheating on him”. Last month, she appeared at San Francisco’s famous Castro Theater as a guest of The Commonwealth Club, and had this to say when she was asked to offer an idea to change the world.
He also explained that the original request from CPS to remove the children from their mother’s home was based on a child sneaking out of the front door twice.
“I’m only human”, he said. Neighbors said they saw deputies come to the home at least twice earlier Saturday, knock on the door and then leave when no one answered.
