The demands for loan waiver gained momentum after the Uttar Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath waived off almost Rs 36,400 crore worth of farmers’ debt.

The farmers agitation spread in no time, with more and more villages joining in along with kisan outfits and political parties other than the BJP of course.
