Benzema is being linked with a move to Arsenal once again, as per the London Evening Standard, following the French international’s tirade against Los Blancos boss Rafa Benitez, after he was substituted in the 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid on Sunday night.
Benzema has been in impressive form so far this season, scoring six times already, but Sunday marked the fifth time he has failed to complete 90 minutes in 2015-16, a statistic he is not entirely enamoured with.
There have been complaints from a few of the Real Madrid supporters and Press that Karim Benzema is the player always replaced by Benitez, while Ronaldo is left on the pitch no matter what.
“I’m calm and will continue to work so I’m not always subtituted. Here I’ve been labelled as defensive, a ‘bus-parker, ‘ yet we’ve created more chances and scored more goals than any other team”.
“And if I was him, I would score twice and not once so the coach does not take me off. I am quite angry after the derby, as we lost two points”.
“That is a myth. He has to rest when he needs to rest to give the most to the team and he tells me that he understands that”.
Benitez was asked about the combination of Benzema, Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, and the squad as a whole, having been in his post since June.
“He is a great player”, he said.
“When we practice in training he hits them well and I am confident”, Benitez said in an interview with Spanish radio broadcaster Cadena Ser on Monday.
I come from a Napoli team who scored 104 goals.
Benitez cleared up speculation about his relationship with Benzema. Do you think I’m going to be hyper-defensive with Real Madrid?
