Peter Koo, Samsung’s SVP, has just announced at Facebook’s Oculus Connect VR developer conference that – after two years of working together – Samsung andOculus VR are ready to release a co-developed consumer headset. The gadget also displays “photorealistic imagery that fills your field of vision in all directions, eliminating the jitter common to previous VR technologies”, the Web page added. It is also 22% lighter and much more comfortable to use for longer periods of time. Oculus is clearly moving away from its developer-centered origins as it tries to market to regular consumers.
It’s not new that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is keen on pushing virtual reality as the next major thing in computing platforms, as he’s been quoted on multiple occasions on his interest in advancing this technology.

Meanwhile, the upcoming Oculus Rift VR headset is expected to go on sale in the first quarter of 2016, technical details of which sound rather intriguing.

Koo says that the new Gear VR will ship in November, before Black Friday in the USA and will be released worldwide shortly after that. That message has really been hammered home, and the good thing is, there’s no dissenters.
