Paramount’s Jack Reacher 2 will be released October. 21, 2016, taking the place of Geostorm, which will now debut on MLK weekend in 2017, according to Deadline. Although Cruise appears to have been confirmed for the sequel, there have been no other confirmed castings for the film.
While Cruise himself is returning to the film, writer and director Christopher McQuarrie is stepping away from the second Jack Reacher movie. There is also no word yet as to which of the books from Child’s series about Reacher will be transformed for the adaptation. This has just been announced by Paramount and Skydance Productions. The conclusion of a four novel arc, Never Go Back is the final story, where Reacher discovers Susan has been arrested and replaced as commanding officer.
