Manchester United are poised to make a second bid for Morgan Schneiderlin after Southampton rejected an opening offer of around £20m for the midfielder.
Manchester United recently placed a bid of around £20million for Schneiderlin but it was rebuffed immediately by Southampton. It wasn’t enough. Not serious.
Saints manager Koeman had previously stated that United were yet to make a “serious” offer for the Frenchman so the bid must have been below their valuation of the player.
While Koeman faces up to the prospect of losing Schneiderlin he could also be without the services of Alderweireld this season.
The 28-year-old underwent a medical in Istanbul at the weekend ahead of the move worth a reported £4.25m (€6m).
“He will travel with the rest of the squad“.
He also revealed that defender Ryan Bertrand would be out for around five weeks to recover from a recent knee surgery.
“There is a lot of interest in the player”.
“Last season we sold some players, and if there is interest in Morgan then okay”.
Schneiderlin made 2.42 interceptions per game in the Premier League last season, which had him ranked above many of Europe’s top defensive midfielders including Barcelona star Sergio Busquets (1.52).
“He is one of the key players of our team”. But the on-going uncertainty over his proposed move could disrupt Koeman’s preparations for the new Premier League campaign.
If that does happen and Schneiderlin departs, the club will immediately look to bring in a replacement, with Koeman confirming that Clasie, 24, is one player who will be considered.
‘Of course. And the player told us the same.
However, reports are now suggesting that the player himself has his heart set on a move to the Gunners for the chance to work under compatriot Arsene Wenger. Login using you Facebook, Twitter, Google or LinkedIn accounts and have your say!
