With the avowed goal of mitigating the damage of market uncertainty, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo has issued an executive order banning private insurers that withdraw from the state’s official health plan marketplace.
U.S. Sen. Bob Casey, D-Pa., on Thursday released a report saying the Senate Republican health care bill will endanger health care coverage for Centre County residents and damage the economy in the rural areas of the state. He says the country’s Medicaid program would take a big hit, pointing to a family he met in Champaign.

A quarter of school leaders said they use Medicaid reimbursements for things like walkers, special playground equipment, and technology to help students see and hear. Toomey’s office told the Centre Daily Times that Medicaid will not lose funding and will continue to increase over the nine-year period under the BCRA, with the exception of 2020. The second-term senator and former North Dakota governor said he’s been meeting with health care groups and individuals along with participating in media interviews, and Kapener said he planned to do another radio town hall.
