In recent years the United States and other countries have been roiled by a series of protests against the gap between the vast majority of the population and the group that has become known as the 1 percenters – the top 1 percent of income earners who control more than half the world’s wealth.
“Essentially, the plan is a major tax reduction for nearly all citizens and corporations, in particular, those in the middle and lower income classes”, the Trump campaign said in a statement. He pointed out that already almost half of American’s are exempt from paying federal income taxes, and said the tax burden on the middle class “comes from other places”.
“If Trump’s plan is going to sell with supply-side economists, the tax rates across the board are going to have to come down”, said Moore, who has consulted with Rand Paul and Jeb Bush on their tax plans and said he spoke to Trump’s team about six weeks ago. “I don’t want certain people on Wall Street to get away with not paying taxes”. “People who are getting unfair deductions are going to be raised”, he said.
The plan would either increase tax revenue or keep it at the current level, Trump claimed in the wide-ranging interview in which he also discussed how he would deal with ISIS in Syria and touted his plan for universal health care coverage to replace Obamacare.
“They will respect me”, Trump said. “And they’ll be significant for the middle class”.
“Our country’s been decimated”.
“I would do something”. Trump is now leading in the Polls as many political insiders think he has a good chance of winning the Republican ticket, as his biggest competitors, Ben Carson and Carly Fiorina, are trailing behind him.
“Scott we need fair trade”, Trump said.
While appearing to go against the ideological grain of his party, Trump said that he is confident his plan will help unleash economic growth.
Throughout the interview, Pelley often urged Trump to explain how he would achieve and pay for numerous grand ideas he has proposed.
“Again, if people say things that are false which happens a lot with me – if people say things that are false I will fight, like, harder than anybody”, Trump said. “If you did a bad story on me for 60 Minutes, if it were a fair story I wouldn’t be thin-skinned at all“.
Moving across the region, Trump touched upon the bitter relationship between ISIL and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, asking why the US has not turned over the duty of fighting Assad to ISIL itself – as part of an apparent ruse to weaken ISIL and thus be able to destroy them. “You know, without the United States or without China sucking out all our money and our jobs, China would collapse in about two minutes”. As for undocumented immigrants, “we’re rounding them up in a very humane way, a very nice way”.
