Barcelona‘s third came shortly before halftime when Luis Suarez pounced on the rebound after his shot was parried by Beto and crossed for Rafinha to score.
Talk of Pedro’s future was further complicated by conflicting reports prior to and after Barcelona’s win over Sevilla.
Pedro fired the victor into the roof of the net from close range with five minutes left as Barca stayed on track to win six trophies this calendar year on the back of last season’s treble. “It’s a matter of continuity, of minutes, I am an ambitious player”. “Whether I stay or go, I will always follow this team”. “I don’t know, I don’t know if I will continue here”.
“He didn’t play in Tbilisi because a few days before he had to stop training [with an injury] and it is an unusual and hard situation“.
But he criticised Fernandez for “some very unfortunate declarations”.
Robert Fernandez, Barcelona’s new sporting director, claimed ahead of kick off the winger had asked to leave the club, only for Pedro to deny those claims after netting the game’s victor, as reported by The Guardian.
“I am not completely happy in the situation”, he said after last night’s victory. “Luis Enrique preferred other players and I have been waiting a lot of time”, Pedro explained.
Barcelona head coach Luis Enrique was typically stubborn when asked whether Pedro will feature in Friday’s Supercopa de Espana first leg against Athletic Bilbao. I know that I am and will always be for Barca, people should not doubt that.
“Manchester? Yes, there are nice challenges on all sides. I am grateful for all of the experiences I have had at the club and for the fans”, he concluded.
“I’m thrilled that Pedro was the one to get the winning goal”, Messi said. “I respect his decisions and have to remain 100 percent calm”, continued the forward. “I understand why you’re interested [in Pedro’s situtation] but I’m not going to say any more about it”.
“You have to do things well in attack and in defense and although we were better than Sevilla, it was not that clear and there were moments when they were better than us”, he admitted.
