Microsoft is bringing its Cortana voice-activated personal assistant to the Raspberry Pi as part of the Windows 10 IoT Core Creators Update launching today.
Windows 10’s voice-controlled assistant Cortana can now be enabled on the $35 Raspberry Pi. The commands related to maps, calendars, news, events, dictionaries etc. can be customized.
What’s interesting is that Microsoft has been mentioning a Cortana feature that’s been entitled as “chit chat”. The Windows 10-powered device could come with a radical design and some pretty unique features.
Windows 10 Creators Update is just around the corner, but Microsoft wants to ensure that users will have a smooth installation and updating process.
If you’ve previously updated Windows 7 or 8.1 to Windows 10 on your target system, then you won’t need a license key, as you will already have the necessary digital requirement.
Microsoft also championed better security for Edge in defending against phishing attacks and malware, as well as more support for third-party browser extensions and improved Cortana virtual assistant capabilities.
Windows 10 Creators Update will also include a brand new design for Windows 10 that is called “Project Neon”.
In order to work, Cortana requires a pair of microphone and speakers. But it also provided an update that allows users more control over their privacy setting and it improved the Microsoft Edge browser.
Microsoft warned that the April 2017 security update package has a known issue that could affect users’ computers and which the company is seeking to fix: users with computers that feature AMD’s Carrizo DDR4 processor won’t be able to download and install future Windows updates, Microsoft said.
