To win the very big sum, the ticket must match all five numbers (in any order) and the red Powerball number.

The winning lottery numbers were 4, 8, 19, 27, 34, and the Powerball number was 10.
The winning numbers for the world-record $1.5 billion Powerball jackpot were announced Wednesday night.
The winners can opt for annual payments over decades or a lump-sum payment. A store employee said the 7-Eleven had sold about $12,000 worth of tickets on Wednesday.
Information about where the winning ticket was sold in Mumford will be released after all required security procedures are complete, lottery officials said early Thursday.
However, 5 ticket holders matched 5 numbers and won $1 million each, according to Jeff Holyfield of the Michigan Lottery.
There are no new billionaires in Pennsylvania or New Jersey after Wednesday’s record-setting Powerball drawing.
Officials with the Multi-State Lottery Association, which runs the Powerball game, said they expected more than 85% of the possible number combinations would have been bought for the drawing. Two more winning tickers were sold in Florida and Tennessee. No official word came from lotteries in Tennessee or Florida about where the winning tickets were sold.
Tickets for Powerball can be purchased in 44 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. That means residents of states without Powerball are driving to neighboring states to play the lottery and probably spending money on gas, soda or snacks in the process. Lottery prizes are exempt from California state and local personal income taxes due to the California State Lottery Act of 1984.
