1 dead, 2 wounded in Manhattan shooting
Three people were shot inside a subway station near NY City’s Penn Station, the NYPD confirmed to Fox News.
Police said they were searching for the shooting suspect, a heavy-set man wearing a hooded sweatshirt, and two other men who were possibly connected to the incident. The men went into a subway station and were followed by the same man, who was shooting at them as they went down the subway steps, police said.
The shooting occurred at roughly 6:15 am, reportedly first on the sidewalk near the subway station on 35th St. and Eighth Ave. and then escalated inside the subway station.
Police said they are looking for the shooter, who was wearing a black sweat shirt with a hood, and two men that he fled with in a auto. Witnesses that heard the shots fired, told NBC 4 NY the argument may have stemmed from a fight inside a fast food restaurant.
The streets near the shooting – an area teeming with people during rush hour – have been closed while the police investigate.
The victims did not appear to know the assailant, police said. William Lamboy was critically injured and Eddy Torres was wounded, AP reported.
A 43-year-old man was shot once in the neck and died in the subway, police said.
