1 dead in New Hampshire crash with Secret Service agents
Four secret service agents were injured Tuesday night in a head-on crash.
The accident happened at about 7 p.m. on Tuesday in the town of Wakefield.
The accident occurred in Wakefield, New Hampshire, about 100 miles (161 km) north of Boston and near border with Maine, NBC said.
The Secret Service did not release the agents names or say what work they were doing. A Secret Service spokeswoman said the agents sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said the agents were heading south on Route 16 when a northbound Mercury Sable crossed over the double-yellow solid line into their lane, hitting the Taurus.
Danforth died at the scene and his passengers, Natasha Meroski, 35, and Kristina Buswell, 21, were taken to Frisbee Memorial Hospital and Huggins Hospital to be treated for their injuries. Messages left seeking their conditions were not immediately returned.
Danforth was killed in the crash, while the agents and two passengers in Danforth’s vehicle were hospitalized.
A joint investigation with the Wakefield Police Department and New Hampshire State Police is ongoing.
The Secret Service did not immediately respond to inquiries on Wednesday morning.
