10-hour rescue saves puppy stuck inside sewage pipe
After being stuck since 11:30 a.m., Arizona Humane Society workers and Phoenix police officers pulled the dog out of the drain around 10:30 p.m. Crews say the pup is alert and nursing.

Phoenix police officers raided the home near 39th Avenue and Buckeye for a drug-related search warrant and found the puppy trapped in the pipe.
The camera, which was attached to a cable, was strung more than thirty feet into the sewage pipe. Two other puppies were dead and a fifth pup had fallen into an uncovered 3-inch pipe in the yard. All the dogs were believed to be strays, the Associated Press reports.

“Yet in my five years here, I think this has to be the longest, non-stop rescue effort!”
The pup was taken to an emergency animal clinic and then was transported to AHS’ Second Chance Animal Hospital on Friday for continued medical care.
