10 killed and 18 injured in Afghanistan gas blast
As well as 11 fatalities, at least 18 people were injured, said Mohammad Rafiq Shirzai a spokesman for the regional hospital in Herat.
A massive fire has reportedly swept through gas terminal in Herat city in western part of the country earlier tonight, leaving at least eleven people dead.
The explosions could be heard from far-off areas as the fire sprang high into the sky. Four of the wounded were sent to Iran for treatment for 90 percent burns, the Associated Press reported.
It was still not clear whether the explosions were an accident or the result of an attack in Afghanistan’s third-largest city. The explosion was so powerful that the burning truck was flung into the camp, he says.
According to the UN, more than 700,00 people have been internally displaced in Afghanistan because of conflict.
