11 reasons why Jon Snow deserves the Iron Throne
At the end of season six, we had the Mad Queen Cersei sitting on the Iron Throne, Daenerys Targaryen and her fleet sailing towards King’s Landing and Jon Snow and Sansa Stark rallying the North to fight against an impending White Walker attack. And in many respects, the truth behind Jon’s origin was already widely guessed at, if not outright known, before the big reveal.
(Game of Thrones /Facebook)’Game of Thrones’ season 7 returns on HBO in Spring of 2017. What’s next for Jon Snow now that the secret’s out about his Targaryen heritage? Somehow, she’s not going to make it to the end of this story. “She knows he means it more about her than it is him talking about himself”. Who’s to say that an alliance between Jon and Dany, two secret relatives, couldn’t lead to Jon following the Targaryen tradition of riding a dragon into battle, against White Walkers no less? If the “Game Of Thrones” Season 6 victory for Jon Snow prompts Daenerys Targaryen to unify the seven kingdoms with help from the King Of The North through marriage, then Queen Rhaenyra’s debt would finally be paid. She even played a critical role in the success of Kit Harington’s character Jon’s bloody battle with Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon).
“Sansa is upset because she’s not getting the credit she deserves”, she explained.
Back in Episode 9, Sansa turned down Littlefinger’s offer – if you can call it that – to rule Westeros by his side, but could the character be having second thougbts now that Jon has been crowned?
Turner added that Sansa feels she has more of a claim to Winterfell than Jon and she is frustrated that no one takes her advice seriously. Turner’s reply was intriguing to say the least: “As you say, she rejects him in the beginning, but there’s definitely something in her that’s … it’s kind of a jealousy toward Jon”.
The King in the North could face potential political resistance at Winterfell, with or without Sansa as an adversary, depending on how people react to the news about his parents … assuming they believe the news at all.
What is clear is that a battle for the Iron Throne is but inevitable in the upcoming seventh season. If Lyanna told her brother that the baby’s name was Aerys (or Jaehaerys) as some have speculated, that would essentially confirm in one both the identity of his father and his Targaryen legitimacy. Plus, it is still a good thing since fewer episodes also mean that the directors will still have more time in perfecting every episode for the fans.
