11-year-old Pence questioner: “I’m full on the Trump campaign”
Trump has made clear he values Pence, telling a rally on Thursday in Portland, Maine, that he and his running mate have a “great relationship”.
Mike Pence describes himself as a “Christian, a conservative and a Republican, in that order” – but after almost three weeks on the job as Donald Trump’s running mate, it appears that he should add a fourth title: Trump apologist.
On the other side of that coin, new fundraising numbers for Trump released Wednesday show a surprising level of grassroots giving to his campaign and progressive critics continue to warn both the Clinton campaign and media figures of dangers associated with bashing Trump too much or repeating the idea that Trump can’t possibly win.
“He has to be very careful about how he handles the defense of Donald Trump”, Devine said.
“I couldn’t be more proud to stand with Donald Trump and we are shoulder to shoulder in this campaign, my friend, promise you”, Pence replied. Mr. Pence asked in a classic stalling tactic. Matthew describes Trump as a force of nature that the country needs.
Pence emphasized their differences in style joking that he was “born to be mild” referring to a caption of him on a motorcycle floating around the internet. WATCH THE TOWN HALL Matthew’s question immediately went viral, making headlines from The New York Times to Rolling Stone. He had been disappointed over Pence weighing in on Trump’s proposed Muslim ban and his comments about the Khan family.
The Indiana governor spoke to about 300 people Thursday morning in a Raleigh auditorium, saying Trump’s straight talk reflects his ability to get things done.
There’s “so many people that have been killed by illegal immigrants”, he said.
“We enjoy arguing with him and discussing politics with him when he wants to discuss it – which seems to be always”, his dad, Dr. Paul Schricker, said. “So that’s why we try to expose them to different viewpoints”. That prompts an outburst of laughter from the crowd and leads Pence to predict that Matthew will be governor of North Carolina someday. But he wouldn’t rule out a run for office.
