12-year-old boy suspected in fatal shooting in Omaha arrested in Minneapolis
A 12-year-old student has been arrested by the police in connection with a drug-related gang shooting in Nebraska, United States.
He was one of the suspects arrested for killing of 31-year old Jamymell Ray near Miller Park.
Fisher, who was wounded in the attack, escaped and later labeled the three boys as the shooters in a lineup, the newspaper reported.
The victim was shot dead after arranging to meet a group in a park to sell them marijuana on June 29, prosecutors alleged.
The prosecutor said Jarrell Milton is a member of the Nike street gang, and requested a psychiatric evaluation of Milton.
Bond was denied for both Primes-Willis and Jamar Milton, authorities said, adding that a preliminary hearing for them has been scheduled for July 31.
“It’s a concern when you have young people involved in crimes”, Douglas County, Nebraska Attorney Don Kleine said, according to the Omaha-World Herald.
He was reportedly held in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on Tuesday night after a $25,000 dollar reward was offered for any tips leading to his arrest.
They are believed to have affiliations with one of the local gangs. The 17-year-old teenager is the older brother of the 12-year-old boy, according to the news release.
“Trying to develop information is hard and in this situation we had a lot of community support, we received tips to help lead us to where he was and that was very beneficial”, said U.S. Marshal Supervisory Deputy Chris White.
Officials say the younger brother has a juvenile court record, and Omaha police on Monday distributed a photo of the boy.
Jarrell’s mother, Lyannia Moss, had been convicted for felony assault when the boy was just an infant.
The boy’s father is serving a prison term in Minnesota for murder, and other family members live there. “They are barely at the age for intervention”. “All of its even impossible to imagine that it’s even a possibility”.
