2 dead, 15 hurt in New Hampshire tent collapse
Two spectators were killed and more than a dozen injured Monday when a circus tent collapsed in New Hampshire, the state fire marshal said.
According to its website, Walker worldwide Events, a circus company, had an event scheduled at the Lancaster Fairgrounds Monday night.
A press conference about the incident is scheduled for 10:30 p.m.
Gov. Maggie Hassan said that officials are continuing to monitor the situation as it unfolds.
It happened Monday evening at the Lancaster fairgrounds, about 90 miles north of the state capital in Concord.
A spokesman for Lancaster police was not immediately available for comment. Emergency officials said 15 people were transported by ambulance, while other injured victims were able to drive themselves. “Some of them were able to go to the hospital themselves without the use of an ambulance”.
A storm with powerful winds moved through the area Monday night as severe thunderstorm warnings were issued by the National Weather Service across New England.
