2 dead after historic Maryland town ravaged by floodwaters

Two people are now confirmed dead in flash flooding that swept through a Baltimore suburb over the weekend, a spokesman for Howard County told CNN.

Kittleman said there had been severe damage to the historic downtown Main Street area.
“Many buildings have significant damage, a lot of cars were damaged – there were cars floating down there, as I heard”, Kittleman told the NBC affiliate WBAL.
The receding floodwaters revealed massive sink holes in Ellicott City, Maryland. Displaced residents from homes under evacuation orders were offered shelter at the county recreation center.
The Main Street area remained closed for vehicles on Sunday as Governor Larry Hogan arrived at the city to review the damages.
