2 dead in suspected road rage shootings in Oklahoma
Investigators say another person was fatally shot about 10 miles from there.
The suspect continued driving westbound along I-40, continuing to fire upon different vehicles, according to KOCO-TV.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) has identified a man arrested in connection to a shooting spree that killed two people on Interstate 40, west of the Oklahoma City metro, early Thursday morning. She was taken to a Weatherford hospital where she was pronounced dead. Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Jessica Brown said the man was being held at the Custer County jail on a preliminary complaint of driving under the influence.
About 11:50 p.m. Wednesday, callers along I-40 in Canadian County began reporting some type of possible road rage incident. The suspect eventually surrendered without incident shortly before 1 am today, Peoples said.
Authorities say the male suspect surrendered peacefully around 12:40 a.m.in Custer County.
Brown says the Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating at least two other cars that were struck by gunfire, besides the victims’ vehicles.
The shooter also fired into several other vehicles, though Peoples said no one else was hurt.
Both victims were able to pull over to the shoulder of the highway after being shot, Peoples said. The man is being booked in the Custer County jail and authorities have not yet interviewed him to determine a motive, but they don’t suspect anyone was specifically targeted.
