2 die, 2 injured in Wooburn shooting; suspect arrested
WOODBURN, Ore. (AP) – Two of the three people fatally shot at a blueberry farm in northwest OR lived at the location and the third was the girlfriend of another resident who was not home at the time, authorities said Tuesday.
The sheriff’s office wrote earlier that deputies were responding to a shooting with possible multiple victims in the city of Woodburn, Oregon.
The suspect in the shooting about 20 miles north of Salem had not been captured, and law enforcement officials were searching the area, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office wrote on Twitter. The other remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Investigators are combing through the large crime scene both inside and outside the house.
The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office also lent assistance as did the Monitor Fire District. The compound is just east of Woodburn. A description of the suspect and his vehicle was sent to all local police agencies. About 2½ hours later, Oregon State Police, assisted by the Hood River County Sheriff’s Office, stopped the suspect as he drove through the scenic Columbia Gorge 80 miles away and took him into custody without incident, state police Capt. Bill Fugate told The Associated Press.
“It’s usually quiet”, Jaime Valverde said.
“One male was found deceased outside”, Baldridge said.
