2 people shot following bank robbery in suburban Denver
Surveillance still from bank robbery that kicked off Wednesday’s crime spree.
Two people were taken to a hospital with gunshot wounds following a confrontation at the Sheridan Recreation Center as Sheridan police are searching for an active shooter.
According to the city of Sheridan’s Twitter account, both the Municipal Building and Sheridan Public Schools were on lock-out.
Four men robbed the First Bank at South Kipling Parkway and West Jewell Avenue about 11 a.m. and left the employees locked in the vault, according to Lakewood police spokesman Steve Davis. They then ditched their auto and shot a man at least twice during a carjacking.
Three or four other suspects are still on the run and the Sheridan 2 School District closed Thursday because of the manhunt. The rec center is just a few minute walk from the high school.
The suspects split up after the second shooting. They were last seen near the intersection of Oxford and Federal Boulevard. KCNC says one had a blue hoodie on. One wore a “Scream” during the bank robbery.
Anyone who may have information that could help detectives in the investigation is asked to call the Lakewood Police Department, their local police or Metro Crime Stoppers.
Both shooting victims were expected to survive, police say.
