The advisor said that he would raise the issue of Indian interference in Pakistan with his Indian counterpart. Naveed, a resident of Faisalabad in Pakistan, has said his group of four members began their journey to Kashmir from Halan area of Pakistan and stayed at Baba Reshi shrine in Gulmarg before moving to south Kashmir. The conference will be chaired by the speaker national assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq. Talking about bilateral talks with India, Sartaj Aziz said Pakistan had not as yet responded to India on the national security advisers’ meeting proposed by the latter on August 23 in New Delhi.
Meanwhile, Indian Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. TCA Raghavan, talking on the occassion, said Pakistan had broken protocol by not inviting the speaker of Indian Jammu and Kashmir Assembly. India and Pakistan must reach an agreement on their own first. “By contrast, enlarging the diplomatic agenda will enable us to bring more issues and linkages into play”, he said.
“We do not agree with this that the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly or its Speaker has no legitimacy”.
Parliamentary delegations from more than 175 legislatures of 53 countries of the Commonwealth are scheduled to attend the conference.
India has threatened to boycott the event if J&K Speaker Kavinder Gupta was not invited. “This is the fourth incident of cease-fire violation by Pakistan along the LoC in Poonch in the last 36 hours”.
