One of the standout things about Marshall was summed up by director Ron Howard, who played Richie Cunningham on Marshall’s “Happy Days”. “His talent made me laugh more than most people ever have”.
On CBS this morning, he talked about how TV has changed over the years. His most recent film was Mother’s Day, which starred Jennifer Aniston, Julia Roberts, Kate Hudson and was just released in April.

Actor, talk and game show host Alan Thicke, who was also close to Marshall tweeted, “My neighbor”.
Sitcoms quickly proved to be Marshall’s forte.
Marshall and Belson detoured into screenwriting in 1967 with “How Sweet It Is”, starring Debbie Reynolds, and followed it up with “The Grasshopper” (1970) with Jacqueline Bisset.

The turn of the century led to Marshall discovering another future Oscar-winning actress in Anne Hathaway, for The Princess Diaries and The Princess Diaries 2.
In addition to his sister, Marshall is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara Sue Marshall; another sister, Ronny Hallin; three children, Kathleen, Lori and Scott Marshall; and six grandchildren.
His funeral will be private however a memorial will take place in Garry’s honor on his birthday – November 13th.
