25 people taken to hospitals during Kenny Chesney concert
“There was superb inter-agency cooperation”, Costa said of the collaboration between city police, public works, emergency medical responders, sheriff’s deputies and other county personnel. He went on to say, “There was superb inter-agency cooperation”.
This was not the first Pittsburgh Kenny Chesney concert to make headlines.
The seven arrests were mostly a result of “alcohol misbehaviour”. None of the arrests made involved anything serious.
Earlier in the day, state police said they cited 36 people for underage drinking around Heinz Field in the hours before the concert.
A majority of those who were taken to hospitals were treated for intoxication or intoxication-related injuries, according to a WPXI report.
Officials say arrests were made for simple assault, trespassing and public intoxication.
Several fights were also reported, according to police, with one officer injuring his hand while breaking up a fight. He added that the objective of the officers “was not to fill the jails or file (numerous) citations”.
Surprisingly, this weekend’s Kenny Chesney concert-which resulted in dozens of fans taken to the hospital-was not the most disastrous Kenny Chesney concert.
“My sixth Kenny Chesney concert it’s been the best experience ever”.
When gates opened at 4 p.m., fans were given trash bags and were told “No shoes, no shirt, no litter”, a play off of Chesney’s 2003 hit single, “No shoes, no shirt, no problems”.
