3 arrested in early morning Phoenix freeway shootings
The Arizona Department of Public Safety has arrested about three defendant for hypothetically opportunity flames throughout the interstate but say the functions commonly are not connected with an history of shootings.
The first report was at approximately 2 a.m. from a person on Interstate 10 near the Broadway Curve. A passenger was twice seen firing a handgun out of the window of a black sedan on the highway, the Arizona Department of Public Safety said in a statement.
DPS said troopers and officers from Phoenix Police soon descended on the area and quickly arrested two suspects. The other also involved a shot allegedly fired out of a black sedan along Interstate-10. The police helicopter followed the vehicle to an apartment complex. A third suspect was taken into custody 45 minutes later, it added. With help from the Phoenix Police helicopter, troopers were able to locate the sedan near I-10 and 83rd Avenue.
DPS says 22-year-old Dezhon Joseph Randolph allegedly was the driver of the suspect vehicle. State troopers met the victim at 83rd Avenue and McDowell Road and removed a bullet from the vehicle as evidence before returning the auto to the victim, who was not injured.
The round was seized for evidence and the vehicle was released to the individual. De Zhon Randolph is facing charges of facilitation of drive-by shooting, aggravated assault, endangerment, and possession of marijuana.
