3 decomposing bodies found near funeral home
A Philadelphia funeral home is under investigation after three decomposing bodies were discovered inside of a nearby garage, police said.
Police said the identities of the bodies were not yet known.
A police spokeswoman says officers found two bodies stored in boxes and a third body in a casket. Nearby residents watched with faces covered to mask the bad stench. The corpses were soon picked up by a different funeral home. The bodies – which have yet to be identified – were removed from the garage by another funeral home, according to reports.
Numbers for the funeral home and Powell Mortuary Services had been disconnected and websites associated with the company were no longer active.
Central Detectives and the Philadelphia Medical Examiner are on their way to an address on West Hagert Street near 26th in Strawberry Mansion, where police found three decomposing bodies. State Board of Funeral Directors spokesperson says while Dailey has a license to be a funeral director, the funeral home’s license expired past year.
