3 killed, including toddler, in France shooting

Three people have been killed and four others seriously wounded in a shootout at a gypsy camp in northern France.

According to local media, police officers and members of the French military are on the scene following the shooting.

The circumstances and motive for the killings have not yet been established, police sources said.

A six month old baby is understood to be among the dead.

Two policeman are also among the injured as well as the child and the gunman himself, the newspaper said.

The gunman was shot by police after he open fired on approaching officers and his condition is not known at this time.

The shooting took place on Tuesday at a Roma camp in France’s Roye commune, the prefecture reports.

Local authorities have gone to the site to clarify the case.
