3-Month-Old Baby Shot in the Face in Compton: LASD

Deputies are searching for two men who were spotted fleeing the residential neighborhood in a dark sedan.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were sent around 7 p.m. Tuesday to a home located in the 300 block of North Holly Avenue for report of a gunshot victim. She was six days past her first birthday.

Detectives were trying to determine the motive for the violence but are looking into whether it was somehow related to a gang dispute, said Cmdr. The child was shot in the head, according to the sheriff’s department.

A witness said she saw the baby’s father running with baby in his arms, and she wasn’t moving at all.

“Someone take my baby to the hospital”, the father said. “They shot my baby”. Police rushed the girl to the hospital, but she was pronounced dead a few minutes after arriving.

Rena Burleson, who said she used to watch Autumn, raced to the hospital when she heard about the shooting on social media.

“I heard the shots maybe 10-12 shots”, the Rev. Maurice Johnson, Kingdom Life Christian Fellowship Church, said.
