345000 visitors for Gamescom 2015
Gamescom was big this year.
It was a successful Gamescom this year if these newly released figures are anything to go by.
The headline though for us is that next year’s show takes place on August 17 -21, a fortnight later than this year’s event.
The massive game fan trade show drew more than 345,000 visitors to Cologne, Germany, this year. Apparently, attendees came from 96 different countries – which is a particularly impressive statistic. Even the exhibition complex was much larger this time around, with 193K square meters against last year’s 163.5K, and the Gamescom city festival in the town centre also got 150K visitors in 2015, 20K more than 2014.
Dr. Maximilian Schenk, MD of the BIU added: “Gamescom has reached the next level – it has not only experienced further growth this year in terms of the exhibition space and the numbers of trade and private visitors”.
More than 800 companies from more than 40 countries presented the latest trends in the gaming industry, a. Apart from the usual keenly awaited premieres of new games, 3D glasses, e-sports events and virtual reality were the focus of the Gamescom 2015. Electronic Arts’ action title Star Wars: Battlefront won a total of five Gamescom honors, including the top, best of Gamescom award handed out by an industry jury, and the most wanted consumer award, voted on by the public.
